"The Freedom Project"
“The Freedom Project” is under the leadership of Belma Vardy, international speaker, founder of Celebration of Dance & author of “Because God Was There” in collaboration with Imago, a charitable organization that adopts projects that are compatible with a Christian worldview and are of good artistic quality. "Our mandate is to affirm the artistic gift and to encourage and facilitate creative initiatives in the arts that will make a positive contribution to the Canadian cultural landscape."
Since 1995 Belma has worked with leaders and elders in Inuit, Metis and First Nations communities to bring a ministry of freedom through artistic expression of their culture.
First Nations Chiefs and pastors saw the potential of sharing her life story as an avenue for bringing hope, healing & freedom to their people.
This book comes under the banner of “The Freedom Project”.
Belma is deeply loved and respected by the First Nations people. As a symbol of her support and commitment to them and their cause they have presented her with eagle feathers, a symbol of conferring the highest honour to someone, and invited her to walk their land. She has been invited to be a part of many tribes…..”Belma you’re one of us”…..
To date, 3800 copies have been donated to the First Nations people.
