ZEBULUN, BURNING BUSH & DELIVERER
These pieces were part of a 30 Day Art Challenge I undertook under the supervision of my art mentor, Matt Tommy. The exercise was to paint a piece using three colours next to each other on the colour wheel. This turned out to be a considerable challenge and in the end I painted two related pieces. The theme of the piece was left entirely to us. I titled them BURNING BUSH and DELIVERER.
I began them in the prophetic style (abstract) choosing the colours and applying them in what some might call a random fashion but which I prefer to call a “Holy Spirit-led” fashion. I do this to allow the river of creativity within me to flow out like a river of living water. Stepping back from the canvas I next, “look to see what He is saying” by prayerfully considering which elements of the piece stand out as having a particular form or meaning. What I see is shaped by the rich deposit of His Word stored in my heart and by what I know of His nature and His ways through my personal walk with Him. I am always amazed when the penny drops and I “see” what it is that is taking shape.
What is even more amazing to me is how relevant the theme can be months or even years later which is the case with Burning Bush and its companion piece Deliverer.
As I write (July 2019), we are in a prophetic time of birthing in anticipation of a great worldwide harvest of souls. As it was in the day of Israel’s promised deliverer Moses and of Jesus Christ (the ultimate deliverer of all nations) there is a mandate to kill the infants to prevent the deliverer from coming forth. Therefore, it is no wonder that in a year of birthing, the abortion debate has taken front place in the public arena. The battle lines have been drawn. There are new extreme abortion laws being passed in some states, and new Heartbeat laws being passed in others. The movie UNPLANNED (about former Planned Parenthood director Abby Johnson) has hit theaters in the United States and is changing mindsets. Canadian pro-life advocates have been fighting to have the movie brought to Canada. It seems in our day, the long held prayer of Lou Engel and countless hidden ones is to be answered….”Father, end abortion and send revival to America.”
In light of prophetic in-sight the Lord has given to me, and I have shared with Mary Audrey Raycroft, it is more than interesting to me that these two pieces have found a home in SW Ontario as they are also prophetically linked to a work of the Spirit in that territory. A great birthing has happened, and another greater birthing is to come. SW Ontario is a hot bed of intercession and is a spiritual womb. As it was in the time of Moses, midwives play a key role in securing the promise. Midwives are to get into position to assist with the birthing. The Spirit of Elijah (who turns the hearts of the generations towards one another) is the child to come. As Lou Engle has said, perhaps it will take a deliverer who was himself adopted to usher in an adoption movement. A great move of the Spirit, ten times more powerful than that experienced in 1994, birthed in Canada full of the Father’s heart that goes forth to bring healing to the nations.
The spirit of abortion is to be defeated. The spirit of adoption released. This Spirit of Elijah will overtake Jezebel. Her throne will collapse, the region and the nation will be delivered, and Canada will enter into her destiny.
Burning Bush commemorates the Kairos moment in time, when Moses, the Deliverer in his generation, the adopted one, turned aside to pay attention to the burning bush in the craggy landscape of his wilderness existence. At 80 years old, a time of life when he could very reasonably have believed he MISSED HIS WINDOW OF OPPORTUNITY FOR HIS DESTINY TO BE FULFILLED due to past failures, he had a life changing encounter with the living God. His response to that encounter changed the course of history.
Following are scriptures, excerpts from articles and insights related to the prophetic significance and linking of all three pieces, Burning Bush, Deliverer and Zebulun which hang together in Chatham, SW Ontario.

Moses and the Burning Bush
3 Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the wilderness and came to Horeb, the mountain of God. 2 There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. 3 So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight—why the bush does not burn up.”
4 When the Lord saw that he had gone over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!”
And Moses said, “Here I am.”
5 “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” 6 Then he said, “I am the God of your father,[a] the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob.” At this, Moses hid his face, because he was afraid to look at God.
7 The Lord said, “I have indeed seen the misery of my people in Egypt. 21 “And I will make the Egyptians favorably disposed toward this people, so that when you leave you will not go empty-handed. 22 Every woman is to ask her neighbor and any woman living in her house for articles of silver and gold and for clothing, which you will put on your sons and daughters. And so you will plunder the Egyptians.”
A promise for SW Ontario connected with the tribe of Naphtali linking the paintings ZEBULUN & BURNING BUSH together.
It is interesting to note Burning Bush has 19 flames which makes it an excellent companion piece for ZEBULUN. The number nineteen links the lands of Naphtali and Zebulun together.
Concerning SW Ontario, the Lord gave me this promise around the time we started riding into
that territory – “You will inherit land Southwest towards to the lake” which is a reference to Deut. 33:23 (see below) and also Genesis 49:21 “Naphtali is a doe set free that bears beautiful fawns.”
The Israelite tribe of Naphtali received 19 cities, with their villages, as part of their inheritance in the Promised Land (Joshua 19:38). Their gift of land, from God, was in the northern most part of what would become Israel. It encompassed the entire western section of the Sea of Galilee.
Isaiah prophesied that the land of Naphtali and Zebulon would someday see a shining beacon in their lands (Isaiah 9:1 - 2). This prophecy, which only the book of Matthew records as being fulfilled, came true during the life of Jesus. Matthew states, "The people who were sitting in darkness have seen a great light; and to those who were sitting in the realm and shadow of death, light has sprung up." (Matthew 4:16, HBFV).
The fulfillment of this prophecy related to 19 occurred when Christ, who had lived in Nazareth all his life, moved at the age of 30 to the Galilean city of Capernaum. Once in the city he started his ministry and began to preach the gospel (Matthew 4:14 - 17).

And of Naphtali he said, O Naphtali, satisfied with favor, and full with the blessing of the LORD: possess you the west and the south.
Naphtali's territory was in the extreme north, and had another tribe, Asher, on its western border. Hence it is probable that the Hebrew word translated "west" should have here another meaning which very frequently belongs to it, and should be rendered "sea," referring to the well-known sea of Chinnereth, or Gennesaret. This interpretation would agree very happily with the actual boundaries of Naphtali upon the map; for by far the greater portion of this famous lake belonged to the tribe, and its southern border stretched in a right line westward from the sea until it met the frontier of Asher's lot. The most ancient Jewish interpreters adopt this explanation of the blessing, and point out how well the appearance and resources of Naphtali's portion justify the enthusiastic language of congratulation which Moses has employed. In the days when they wrote, the plain of Gennesaret and the great inland district of Galilee which stretched northward to the roots of Lebanon, were the most populous and flourishing parts of Palestine. The first fruits were brought to the temple at Jerusalem from Mount Naphtali before they were ripe for gathering anywhere else; so that the men of this tribe were always the first to receive the benediction of Jehovah's priests upon each new harvest. Solomon drew from this same region the largest supplies of food for the expensive entertainment of his court; and in David's time, Naphtali, with Zebulun's aid, was able to feast all Israel abundantly for three days with stores which they brought up to Hebron "on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen." This was an ample fulfilment in temporal things of the blessing which Moses pronounced upon the tribe. But there is a passage in Isaiah (Isaiah 9:1, 2; comp. Matthew 4:1) which seems to intimate that there was a hidden spiritual reference in the lavish outpouring of "favour" from the Lord of which Naphtali is here assured. The first fruits of Messiah's ministry were to be vouchsafed to this same highly-favoured region, a city of which, Capernaum, was indeed chosen by the Lord Jesus as His dwelling place for one whole "acceptable year." Too little, indeed, did the men of Galilee understand their high privilege; and though they might have been satiated with the spiritual blessings which were thus brought to their door, they suffered the day of visitation to pass by them unused. Therefore the failure of their blessing … in its highest sense serves now as a warning to the men who have received still better promises from God through Christ. Many of these are ready to boast that they are "full," and that they "reign as kings," being "rich, and increased with goods, and in need of nothing"; yet is there only one substantial ground on which to build these confident professions. In Christ are hid all treasures of spiritual blessing. He who has Christ is more than satisfied, but he who rejects Christ, or who lets Christ dwell near him unrecognized and unappropriated in His great salvation, is empty and beggared, though all riches of corn and wine may be increased to him (1 Corinthians 3:21-23; 1 Corinthians 4:8; Revelation 3:17-20).
