I created David & Samuel 5, print as a 2025 square color-variant edition of my original painting David & Samuel: a light blue field, softened figures, and a warm arc of color holding the calm, relational moment of blessing, calling, and consecration between the two figures.

This 2025 artist-directed color-variant edition retains the quiet two-figure encounter of the original while shifting the image toward a lighter blue atmosphere, clearer aqua space between the figures, and a warmer arc of color above them. Available on paper, canvas, metal, and acrylic in sizes from 12 × 12 in to 48 × 48 in, with 48 × 48 in available on metal only.
I created this edition to bring a quieter, lighter reading to the encounter at the heart of David & Samuel. The two figures remain close and centered, held in a field of blue, with a warm arc above them suggesting blessing, calling, and consecration.
The image draws from 1 Samuel 16 — the anointing of David by Samuel — where the outer appearance yields to what God sees, and calling is conferred not through ceremony but through quiet obedience and oil poured out. For me, this image carries the stillness of a moment when something is recognized, received, and released. It is intimate, relational, and quietly commissioning.

The edition retains the full square composition while refining the color atmosphere toward a lighter blue field, clearer aqua space between the figures, and warmer orange notes in the arc above them. No third-party imagery is used. The original painting was a gift of the artist, circa 2017.
Palette: light blue, pale aqua, icy cyan, violet-blue contour notes, and warm orange accents. Mood: calm, contemplative, relational, gentle, and quietly commissioning. The image reads as spacious and serene from across the room, with softened figures and layered surface detail visible up close.
Two abstracted figures in a moment of blessing, transfer, recognition, or calling anchor the composition, with human closeness, an arc of warmth, luminous blue atmosphere, and a still central encounter as its governing motifs. The square format with vertical figure placement and a centered relational focal point gives the work visual balance and calm presence across a wall.
Living rooms where a calm square focal point is needed without visual heaviness are a natural placement. Bedrooms, prayer spaces, reading corners, counseling rooms, and mentoring spaces also suit this print well. Spa-style baths and restorative interiors benefit from the cool palette when ordered in metal or acrylic. Modern interiors where blue, aqua, and soft orange accents can bring quiet warmth and spiritual depth are strong placements.

For humid bathrooms, metal or acrylic is the best choice. In a dry, well-ventilated powder room, framed paper under glass may also work. Canvas is better reserved for lower-humidity spaces.
