Summary
Going Fishing 4 is a detail-crop print by Anne Reid Artist, isolating the central figure from the original painting Going Fishing — a lone figure in a wooden boat, moving through a field of warm amber and deep indigo toward the light. Begun at the House of Prayer at Catch the Fire Toronto and carried through a year of family transition, this is a work of intercession and prophetic art: painted before its meaning was fully known, and understood in time. Available as an open edition fine art print on paper, canvas, metal, and acrylic.
Artwork Statement
I started Going Fishing 4 at the House of Prayer at Catch the Fire Toronto, and I continued painting it through one of the most significant years of my life — travelling back and forth as my father was ill, leaving the painting for him to look at. I did not fully know what I was painting when I began. But God knew. The image of a figure in a boat, moving through warm light toward the horizon, became a picture of hope, intercession, and the heart's journey toward what lies ahead. It is an example of prophetic art in its truest sense: born in prayer, carried through transition, and resolved in meaning only afterward. It is also simply a painting about going — about the quiet obedience of casting out, even when you cannot yet see the shore.
Variation & Edition Notes
Going Fishing 4 is a detail-crop edition drawn from the lower-left section of the original painting Going Fishing. The full original composition includes a harbour scene, two fishing boats, figures on the quayside, and a luminous cross rising above the water at centre. This print isolates the solitary rowing figure and the warm ambient field surrounding him — presenting a more intimate, contemplative reading of the original work. See Integrity Notes below for full disclosure.
Color & Mood
- Deep indigo and navy for the figure — weight, presence, and quiet purpose
- Warm amber and burnt orange radiating from the right — light, invitation, and forward pull
- Rich dark purples and mahogany in the lower field — grounding the composition
- A tone of contemplative motion: purposeful, unhurried, and held in warmth
Design Notes
- Vertical composition with strong left-weighted figure creating dynamic tension against open warm field
- Expressive brushwork preserved in the print — the hand of the original is present at every size
- High contrast between cool figure and warm field reads powerfully at both intimate and statement scales
- Works with warm neutrals, natural timber, leather, linen, and deep-toned interiors
Where It Works
- Primary bedrooms as a contemplative anchor above the bed
- Living rooms and sitting areas with warm or natural material palettes
- Studies, libraries, and prayer spaces where depth and quiet presence matter
- Hospitality interiors — hotel rooms, wellness suites, and retreat spaces
- Spa and bathroom environments (see bathroom guidance below)

Integrity Notes
Going Fishing 4 is a detail-crop edition prepared from the lower-left section of the original painting Going Fishing, acrylic on canvas, 18 × 24 in. The full original composition includes a harbour scene, two fishing boats, figures on the quayside, and a luminous cross rising at centre — a larger and more complex work than what this print presents. The crop was released because this figure and the warm ambient field surrounding him carry a concentrated, self-contained reading of the original's meaning. Minor digital refinements were made for print clarity and tonal balance. No artificial intelligence was used in the creation or preparation of this artwork.
