I painted Going Fishing 4 during a year of significant transition in my immediate family — a figure in a wooden boat, moving through warm light, pulling toward the horizon. I began it without fully knowing what it was. That is often how prophetic art works: painted in prayer, held in hope, understood in time.

Begun at the House of Prayer at Catch the Fire Toronto and carried through a year of family transition, this is a work of intercession and prophetic art: painted before its meaning was fully known, and understood in time. I started Going Fishing 4 at the House of Prayer at Catch the Fire Toronto, and I continued painting it through one of the most significant years of my life — travelling back and forth as my father was ill, leaving the painting for him to look at. I did not fully know what I was painting when I began. But God knew. The image of a figure in a boat, moving through warm light toward the horizon, became a picture of hope, intercession, and the heart's journey toward what lies ahead. It is an example of prophetic art in its truest sense: born in prayer, carried through transition, and resolved in meaning only afterward. It is also simply a painting about going — about the quiet obedience of casting out, even when you cannot yet see the shore.

The full original composition includes a harbour scene, two fishing boats, figures on the quayside, and a luminous cross rising above the water at centre. This print isolates the solitary rowing figure and the warm ambient field surrounding him — presenting a more intimate, contemplative reading of the original work. The crop was released because this figure and the warm ambient field surrounding him carry a concentrated, self-contained reading of the original's meaning. Minor digital refinements were made for print clarity and tonal balance. No artificial intelligence was used in the creation or preparation of this artwork.
