Summary
Land of the Rising Sun 2 is an open edition fine art print from Anne Reid Artist's original abstract expressionist painting of the same series. Dark silhouetted figures stand before a blazing yellow-green field of reflected light — a threshold image of dawn, national awakening, and encounter. Available in seven square sizes on paper, metal, canvas, and acrylic.
Artwork Statement
Standing figures face a field of blazing yellow-green light reflected in water below them. The composition is at once territorial and encounter-like — figures on the edge of something larger, caught between where they have come from and what lies ahead. The dark silhouettes anchor the energy, while the luminous green and blue reflection create a sense of movement, threshold, and living light.
The work carries themes of dawn, national awakening, and the threshold moment — a liminal space where identity, calling, and arrival converge.
Color & Mood
The dominant color is a vivid green, blazing to yellow-green at the focal center. Dark figure forms create strong contrast against the lit field. A blue reflection runs beneath the central light, adding depth and a water-like quality to the lower composition. The mood is awakening, territorial, and charged with forward movement.
Design Notes
This is a square-format work. The bold color field and strong figure-ground contrast make it a natural focal point in rooms that can carry high visual energy. The composition reads clearly at all sizes from 12×12 through 48×48, with the largest formats delivering an immersive threshold effect. The square aspect suits both symmetrical and asymmetrical hanging arrangements.
Where It Works
The energy and scale of Land of the Rising Sun 2 suits living rooms, dining rooms, home offices, and boardrooms where bold color and purposeful imagery are welcome. It works equally well in worship spaces, prayer rooms, and personal studios. The territorial and awakening quality of the composition makes it a strong anchor piece rather than a supporting role.
Print Options & Materials
This print is available on four media: paper, metal, canvas, and acrylic. Paper delivers warm, gallery-quality color. Metal (ChromaLuxe) intensifies the luminous yellow-green and deep figure tones with its reflective surface — the recommended choice for the boldest rendering of this composition. Canvas offers a textured gallery feel. Acrylic produces a sharp, luminous face-mounted look with excellent depth in the reflection areas.

Sizing Guidance
Available sizes are 12×12, 20×20, 24×24, 30×30, 36×36, 40×40, and 48×48 in. All sizes are square. The 12×12 and 20×20 suit shelves, desks, and smaller wall arrangements. The 24×24 and 30×30 are versatile mid-range sizes for most residential walls. The 36×36 and 40×40 work well as strong focal pieces on larger walls. The 48×48 is a statement-scale format suited to high-ceiling rooms, open living spaces, boardrooms, and architectural walls.

Quality & Care
All prints are produced by a professional fine art lab using archival inks and materials. Paper prints should be framed behind UV-protective glazing and kept away from direct sunlight and high humidity. Metal prints are moisture-resistant and easy to clean with a soft dry cloth. Canvas prints may be gently dusted. Acrylic prints should be cleaned with a non-abrasive cloth. Avoid placing any print in direct, prolonged sunlight.

Integrity Notes
This print is prepared from Anne Reid Artist's original acrylic painting Land of the Rising Sun (2018), acrylic on paper mounted on panel board, 12×12 in. The original is a continuing work-in-progress in the studio. No stock imagery or AI-generated elements were used in the artwork. Print preparation may include light digital adjustments for tone, contrast, cleanup, and print-ready sharpening; no compositing or added objects.

Notes from the Studio
This painting began as part of my exploration of territorial and national themes in abstract expressionism. The figures standing before the blazing field feel, to me, like a people arriving at something — a land, a promise, a moment of threshold crossing. It remains a living painting in the studio.
