Summary
Sealed Garden is an open edition fine art print from Anne Reid Artist's original 2016 acrylic painting. A warm circular seed-like form is held inside a layered green and aqua field — a composition of hidden life, sacred containment, and quiet fertility. Inspired by Song of Songs 4:12–16, it carries the language of the beloved garden: enclosed, flourishing, and waiting to be entered. Available on paper, metal, canvas, and acrylic in four vertical sizes.
Artwork Statement
The composition centers on a warm circular form — a cracked seed, a fruit, a contained world — set within a fluid layered atmosphere of greens, aqua, cream, and brown. Delicate organic forms emerge from the cracks, suggesting that life does not wait for perfect conditions. The image holds together what feels fractured and what is flourishing, and refuses to resolve that tension too quickly.
This is a painting about enclosure as gift rather than limitation. The sealed garden of Song of Songs is not locked against the beloved — it is kept for the beloved. The painting holds that same quality: intimate, fertile, expectant.
"You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain. Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits… Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden."
Song of Songs 4:12–16, NIV
Color & Mood
- Focal color: warm pink-red center at the circular form
- Dominant color: green and aqua field
- Spice tones: cream and brown — earthy warmth and textural depth
- Mood: fertility, enclosure, hidden life — inward and intimate rather than expansive or declarative
- The painting rewards close looking: there is more warmth and more detail at the center than first appears
Design Notes
- Vertical format with a strong central focal form
- The circular composition within the vertical field gives a contained, medallion-like quality that reads clearly at all four sizes
- Warm center against the cool green field creates a natural draw for the eye — an easy focal piece without demanding visual dominance
- Pairs well with natural materials, soft neutrals, and botanical or organic interiors
Where It Works
- Bedrooms, reading rooms, nurseries, and prayer corners — the intimacy and fertility of the image suit quiet, personal spaces
- Wellness spaces, meditation rooms, and home offices where a calm focal piece is welcome
- Dining rooms and hallways where organic or botanical character is a good fit
- Works as a single statement piece or within a curated gallery wall
- Holds well against deep, saturated wall colors — the cool greens and warm center carry against rich, bold backgrounds

Greeting Card Option
For a smaller-format gift or written message, select Greeting Cards from the medium options when available. Sealed Garden carries themes of growth, renewal, grounding, hidden life, and sacred enclosure, making it suitable for encouragement, prayer, or a thoughtful personal note, while the fine art print remains the primary wall-art format.

Notes from the Studio
This painting was made as a commission and has stayed with me as one of the quieter, more interior pieces in the catalog. Song of Songs 4 is one of the most unusual passages in scripture — it speaks of a garden that is both enclosed and bursting with life. That paradox is what the painting is about. Some things are sealed not because they are finished, but because they are being kept.
