Summary
The Breaker 8, print is an open-edition detail-crop fine art print by Anne Reid Artist, drawn from The Breaker Remix. Ascending luminous figures rise through a vivid violet-magenta field edged with teal — contemplative, expectant, and quietly radiant. The image holds the atmosphere of intercession and the hush before breakthrough.
Artwork Statement
I wanted to hold the moment before breakthrough — witnesses rising like small flames in amethyst air. The crop isolates the ascending figures from the larger seascape composition of The Breaker Remix, concentrating the image into a pure vertical field of violet, magenta, and teal. Without shoreline or water, only the lift remains: a visual chord of expectancy and calm.
The Breaker family of works draws from Micah 2:13 — the Messiah going before, breaking open the way, so that His people pass through the gate and go out, their King before them at their head.
"The breaker [the Messiah, who opens the way] shall go up before them. They will break out, pass through the gate and go out; So their King goes on before them, the Lord at their head."
Micah 2:13, AMP
Variation & Edition Notes
The Breaker 8 is an artist-directed detail-crop edition drawn from The Breaker Remix (2017, acrylic on canvas, 18×24 in). The crop isolates the ascending figures in a violet-magenta atmosphere with teal rim, concentrating the composition into a vertical 3:4 format. The palette shifts toward violet-magenta with teal edge depth — an artist-directed color variant for legibility and presence at scale. All forms originate from the painted surface; no figures were added or fabricated. Standard print mastering applied; no AI, no compositing.
For the original seascape state of the source painting, see The Breaker, print. For the teal-gold vertical companion crop, see The Breaker 9, print.
Color & Mood
- Dominant color: vivid violet-magenta — the central ascending field
- Rim color: teal-cyan — right edge and outer field
- Shadow base: deep navy-black — outer corners and lower register
- Figure forms: pale blue-white luminous heads and elongated upright bodies ascending through the magenta field
- Mood: contemplative, expectant, and softly radiant — the hush before breakthrough
- Spiritual tone: intercession, ascent, and the presence that precedes a breakthrough moment
Design Notes
- Vertical 3:4 composition — the ascending format conveys lift, intercession, and upward movement
- Close crop concentrates the viewer inside the painted surface — canvas texture is visible and present throughout
- Soft gradients and upright figure forms ensure legibility at corridor, chapel, and large-wall distance
- The teal rim creates visual containment on the right edge, framing the violet field without competing with it
- Pairs naturally with The Breaker 9, print as a diptych — cool-warm dialogue with shared vertical lift
Where It Works
- Prayer room, chapel, or intercession space where expectant atmosphere matters
- Residential hallway, bedroom, or living room needing a calm and spiritually resonant focal image
- Elevator lobby, clinic, spa, or hospitality waiting area seeking quiet, contemplative color
- Wellness and retreat spaces where violet and teal create restful, meaningful presence
- Large feature walls where the 45×60 or 48×64 in metal edition creates architectural presence

Notes from the Studio
The Breaker Remix continues the exploration of the original canvas. The Breaker 8 draws from the figure passage of that reworked painting — isolating the ascending forms into a concentrated vertical field of violet and teal. For the earlier seascape state of the original canvas, see The Breaker, print.
