Summary
Transfiguration by Anne Reid Artist is a radiant, contemplative composition rooted in the biblical account of Christ revealed in glory on the mountain. Figures gather along a rising path of light — moving from human awareness into divine presence — set within a luminous field of crimson, rose, and gold. This Transfiguration art print brings the energy of that encounter into contemporary space with warmth, stillness, and prophetic depth.
Artwork Statement
I painted this in while watching the ONE THING 2018 livestream and the Catch the Fire Toronto 25th anniversary — praying, worshipping, listening, and waiting. It began as abstraction, but as I stayed with it, the scene opened.
This is the moment on the mountain. His face shone like the sun. A bright cloud covered them, and a voice said: This is my Son, whom I love — listen to him (Matthew 17:5, NIV). Light reveals what was always there. Presence becomes visible.
In recent years, renewed study around the possible identification of the Mount of Transfiguration with Mount Hermon — a site associated in ancient Jewish tradition with spiritual opposition and contested authority — has caused me to revisit this painting in a new light. If that identification holds, the moment recorded in the Gospels is not only a private unveiling witnessed by three disciples. It becomes a declaration: the promised Seed unveiled in glory, confronting every power that claimed dominion, and revealing the authority of the Kingdom of God.
The painting holds that tension — between glory and conflict, hiddenness and unveiling, mountain encounter and Kingdom declaration. But what matters most is not the darkness surrounding the location. It is the radiance of Christ revealed there. The glory belongs to him. The authority belongs to him. The Father's command remains: listen to the Son.
Matthew 17:2, NIV: his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Luke 9:35, NIV: a voice came from the cloud, saying, "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him."
