Summary
Two 5, print is an open-edition fine art print by Anne Reid Artist drawn from the original 2020 acrylic painting Two. Two silhouetted figures stand hand in hand before a sweeping vortex of orange, cobalt blue, crimson, and brilliant white light. This edition presents the same covenant figures in a square format with a warmer, more vivid palette — intimate, luminous, and deeply relational.
Artwork Statement
I painted the two figures at the center of Two as the heart of the work — a man and a woman, standing together, holding hands, facing the light. Everything in the composition moves around them: the sweeping arc of color, the circular motion of the brushwork, the long shadows behind them on the purple ground. The figures are small against the field, but that is part of the meaning. They stand together inside a vast atmosphere of color, light, and movement — surrounded by pressure and mystery, but not separated from one another.
The crimson glow between the figures suggests covenant and the costly love that holds people together. The white and gold light ahead opens the painting toward peace, hope, and the place that reconciliation is meant to lead. Light radiates from the space between them — reinforcing the idea that true connection generates its own energy.
The painting connects with the power of agreement: "Truly I tell you, if two of you agree on earth about anything you ask, it will be done for you by my Father in heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them" (Matthew 18:19–20).
Variation & Edition Notes
Two 5 is an artist-directed edition drawn from the original Two painting. The edition differs from the base print in two ways: the format has been cropped to a 1:1 square composition, and the palette has been transformed to a warmer, more vivid register — orange, cobalt blue, crimson, and brilliant white — in contrast to the cooler purple and gold tones of the original canvas. The figures, their gesture, and the core composition remain the same. This is an intentional color-variant edition, not a replication of the original painting's palette.
Color & Mood
- Dominant colors: warm orange — sweeping the upper arc and left field
- Core color: vivid cobalt blue at the center of the vortex
- Focal colors: hot crimson-red between the figures; brilliant white-yellow glow to the right
- Lower register: deep violet-purple ground — retained from the original
- Mood: vibrant, luminous, and covenantal — warmer and more energetic than Two, print
- Spiritual tone: unity, agreement, covenant, and the energy released when two stand together before God
Design Notes
- Square 1:1 format — an artist-directed crop from the original 3:4 vertical painting
- The square crop tightens the composition around the figures and the central vortex, removing the extended upper field of the original
- Figures are closer and more central in frame than in Two, print — the square format creates a more enclosed, intimate feeling
- Sweeping circular brushwork creates a sense of passage, energy, and spiritual motion around the figures
- Warm orange and cobalt palette gives the edition a brighter, more vivid presence than the cooler original
- Suits interiors with warm neutrals, cream walls, and mid-century or contemporary furnishings
Where It Works
- Living room feature wall where vibrant color and relational meaning are both desired
- Primary bedroom or suite where covenant, warmth, and luminous color create an inviting atmosphere
- Prayer room, counseling space, or retreat setting
- Marriage ministry, hospitality suite, or celebration space
- Square format works especially well between two windows, above a console, or as a standalone statement on a large wall

Integrity Notes
Two 5, print is an open-edition fine art print drawn from my original human-made acrylic on canvas painting Two (2020). The edition is an artist-directed square crop with a warmer color palette applied — both the format change and the palette transformation are intentional artistic decisions. The figures, their gesture, and the core composition are materially faithful to the original work. The print includes normal print preparation with no compositing, AI generation, or added elements.

Notes from the Studio
The two figures that emerged from the original Two painting have continued to speak in different formats and palettes. Two 5 brings that same covenant image into a square format with a warmer, more vivid atmosphere — the same two people, the same light ahead, the same gesture of holding on. The square format creates a sense of enclosure and focus that the vertical original does not have: the vortex surrounds the figures more completely, and the viewer enters the image rather than observing it.
