Summary
Two 6, print is a square open-edition fine art print by Anne Reid Artist, based on the 2020 original painting TWO and released as a print edition in 2024. In this edition, the joined figures are brought forward within a softer luminous coral-pink field, giving the image a warmer, more intimate emotional register than the original’s dramatic threshold atmosphere. The result is a belonging-centered edition that suits bedrooms, guest rooms, hospitality interiors, and spaces where tenderness and quiet reassurance matter.
Artwork Statement
I return to this image because the held gesture matters. Two figures, side by side, are enough to speak of covenant, agreement, companionship, and the quiet strength of being with another person without needing to explain everything in words.
In the original TWO, I painted a large swirling vortex of deep purple, copper, and blue behind the figures, with a threshold light breaking open behind them. The atmosphere was charged with scale and spiritual drama — a sense of standing at the edge of something large. In this edition, I wanted the nearness of the figures to come forward instead. The softer pink field quiets the drama and lets the relationship itself hold the weight. The image becomes less about where they are standing and more about the fact that they are standing together.
For me, it also resonates with Matthew 18:19–21: agreement, gathered presence, and the mystery of what happens when people stand together before God. I do not read that here as noise or sentimentality, but as steady companionship and held peace.
Color & Mood
- The soft coral-pink atmosphere draws the eye inward toward the figures and creates a field of warmth and welcome around them.
- Scattered bokeh circles of pale blush and white keep the background airy, luminous, and gently celebratory without becoming heavy.
- The deep blue-violet silhouettes of the figures give the image quiet grounding and emotional weight against the warm field.
- A warm red-rust edge light on the taller figure carries a trace of the original’s threshold energy — the sense that something larger is present just beyond the frame.
- Long diagonal shadows anchor the composition and give it a sense of time and stillness.
- The overall mood is tender, companionable, and quietly reassuring — belonging without pressure.
Design Notes
- The square crop changes the original 30×40 in portrait composition into a 1:1 format that centers the joined figures more tightly, removing the original’s ground plane and swirling upper atmosphere.
- The figures remain the anchor of the image while the simplified bokeh field lets gesture and relationship lead.
- Soft circular light forms keep the background airy and welcoming rather than dramatic or spatially deep.
- Dark vertical silhouettes and long shadows give the print enough structure to hold modern interiors while preserving a tender emotional tone.
Where It Works
- Bedrooms, guest rooms, and quieter living spaces that need warmth without visual pressure
- Nurseries, hospitality interiors, and care-centered settings where reassurance and welcome matter
- Meaningful gift settings, especially where companionship, covenant, or tenderness is part of the story
- Soft contemporary interiors that benefit from pink, violet, and luminous neutral tones

Print Options & Materials
- Paper for a classic fine art presentation behind glass — best when you want the softest, most intimate reading of the image.
- Canvas for painterly depth and a softer wall presence that honors the painting’s origins.
- Metal for luminous, saturated color and a bold contemporary statement — especially strong at larger sizes.
- Acrylic for depth, clarity, and a polished modern finish that intensifies the color field.
Bathroom Suitability
For humid bathrooms and spa-style spaces, Metal or Acrylic are the strongest choices. Framed paper works well in dry, ventilated bathrooms with glazing.

Quality & Care
Anne Reid Artist prints are produced for clarity, color, and everyday enjoyment. The figures in this edition are reviewed for legibility and the atmosphere is calibrated to stay soft rather than washed out. Handle paper prints with clean hands and frame them behind glazing where appropriate. Canvas, metal, and acrylic should be dusted gently with a soft cloth and displayed away from prolonged moisture or harsh treatment.

Integrity Notes
This is an open-edition print based on my 2020 original painting TWO, acrylic on canvas, 30×40 in, now in private collection. In the 2024 edition, I cropped the original portrait composition to a square format, isolated the figures from the original background — a large swirling vortex of deep purple, copper, and blue with a strong threshold light behind the figures — and built a new fully digital soft pink bokeh field around them. The figures themselves come directly from the unaltered original painting. The change is the surrounding atmosphere and image state, not the human-made source figures.

Notes from the Studio
I loved the tenderness that emerged when these two figures were given more space to breathe inside a softer field of light. The original TWO placed them at the edge of something large and charged — a threshold moment. This edition quiets that drama and lets the belonging itself do the work. That quiet sense of accompaniment is why it sits so naturally in this collection.
