This fine art print from the original painting Yellow portrays luminous, robed figures travelling across a rust-red desert ridge beside a turquoise stream under a star-strewn night sky. Painted in the context of worship and prayer for Israel, it weaves together the wilderness journey, God’s covenant promises as countless as the stars, and His faithful provision in dry places.
Artwork Statement
I began Yellow during a mid-week worship set at Catch the Fire Toronto, simply painting what I sensed in my spirit: a people in motion, crossing a dark wilderness toward promise.
Months later, while photographing other paintings by the lake, my phone died and then rebooted with the radio playing a song about yellow stars shining for someone you love. The timing landed like a nudge. On the way back to the studio I knew the sky in this piece needed to be filled with yellow light.
As the work developed, the scene became, for me, the children of Israel travelling through the desert: robed figures wrapped in light, the bright stream as God’s provision, and the star field as a reminder of His promise to Abraham of descendants beyond counting.
The painting was completed in a season of intense international debate about Israel, so it also carries the weight of intercession in my heart—an image of covenant faithfulness held steady even when nations shake.
Color & Mood
- Inky violet-black sky scattered with warm yellow stars, suggesting infinite covenant and wonder.
- Electric turquoise in the stream and robes conveys living water, movement, and the nearness of the Spirit.
- Oxide reds and sienna earth tones anchor the scene in the heat and grit of the desert.
- Figures edged in white-blue light feel both human and angelic, carrying a sense of pilgrimage and presence.
Design Notes
- Horizontal composition with a strong diagonal ridge draws the eye from the lower left procession toward the central figures and the stairway on the right.
- The turquoise stream and stepped path form a kind of visual ladder of ascent and descent, echoing movement between earth and heaven.
- Dense star field on the left balances the glowing rock face on the right, framing the robed figures in the center.
- Layered, textured brushwork in the garments hints at many individual stories within one covenant people.
Where It Works
- Prayer rooms, studies, or home offices where intercession for Israel and the nations is part of daily life.
- Entryways and hallways, especially near staircases, where the ascending path can visually echo the architecture.
- Living rooms or family rooms that welcome bold color and storytelling, paired with warm woods and neutral textiles.
- Hospitality spaces—retreat centers, conference foyers, or church lobbies—where themes of journey, promise, and provision resonate.
Pairing Ideas
- Echo the celestial theme with The Apple, print, another star-filled meditation on God’s eye and covenant.
- Create a wilderness narrative wall by pairing with Cloud by Day, print, bringing together night sky and guiding cloud.
- Intensify the Exodus thread by adding Burning Bush, print, focusing on encounter and commissioning.
Print Options & Materials
- Produced using archival pigment inks for rich, long-lasting color and detail.
- Printed on the fine art materials listed in the options above (paper, canvas, metal, or acrylic, depending on your selection).
- Each print is made to order to honor the integrity of the original painting.
Sizing Guidance (approx. 5:7 aspect — exact to this page)
- Available print sizes: 14 x 10 in and 20 x 14 in (horizontal orientation).
- 14 x 10 in works beautifully in small prayer corners, office nooks, or as part of a gallery wall.
- 20 x 14 in creates a strong focal point above a console, piano, or along a staircase landing.
- As a general guide, aim for artwork width at roughly 60–75% of the furniture below, with the center of the piece around 57–60 in from the floor.
Quality & Care
- Archival-quality materials designed for lasting beauty when displayed in normal indoor conditions.
- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or high humidity where possible; dust gently with a soft, dry cloth.
- Framing under UV-protective glazing is recommended for paper prints.

Artist Reflection (poem)
Night,
and the desert is not empty—
each rock holding heat,
each star carrying a promise.
They climb the ridge in silence,
robes catching turquoise light,
their thirst answered
before they even ask.
A river runs where maps show only sand,
steps rise where there was no path,
and the sky whispers,
“See how My promises shine for you.”
Scripture (shortened)
“Look up at the sky and count the stars—if indeed you can count them… So shall your offspring be.” (Genesis 15:4–5)
“If this fixed order departed from before Me,” says the Lord, “then Israel would cease as a nation.” (Jeremiah 31:35–36)
“They were not thirsty when He led them through deserts; He split the rock and water flowed.” (Isaiah 48:21)
