Summary
Emergence, print is an open-edition fine art print by Anne Reid Artist, based on the 2016 original painting Emergence. A luminous gold egg rests in a richly textured nest while bird and wing forms gather around it, giving the work a strong sense of birth, calling, and protected becoming. The painting carries a documented prophetic story: the original was gifted to an apostolic leader visiting from Bangalore, India, on the night it was painted, and the encounter that followed was later described as a divine prophetic moment that unlocked destinies for a generation.
Artwork Statement
I painted Emergence during a House of Prayer set at Catch the Fire Toronto in 2016. I was not trying to illustrate a concept. I was painting what was forming — and what formed was a nest, an egg, and the sense of something hidden that was about to become visible.
For me this work speaks of new beginnings, but not sentimental ones. It speaks of calling, formation, and the emergence of a new voice under God’s care. There is vulnerability in the moment of hatching, but there is also purpose. I wanted the painting to feel like a threshold: something long hidden finally beginning to come forth.
That night, I gave the original to Joshua — a leader visiting from India who came over and looked at what I was doing, led by the Holy Spirit. What happened next was something I could not have planned. I was broken at the time. The kindness of God in that moment was surreal.
Color & Mood
- The luminous gold egg at the center of the composition radiates warmth, promise, and the sense of something precious being held and protected.
- Gold and warm amber in the nest and wing forms speak of glory, covering, and the richness of what is being formed.
- Lavender and soft violet in the background field give the piece an atmospheric, contemplative quality — the unseen realm present around the visible moment.
- Vertical amber-brown reed forms on the right suggest witness, time, and the quiet environment in which new life comes forth.
- The overall mood is tender, watchful, hopeful, and quietly prophetic.
Design Notes
- The large rounded egg form anchors the composition and gives the piece immediate visual calm and weight.
- Bird, nest, and wing language are suggested rather than tightly rendered, keeping the work expressive and open to interpretation.
- Heavy impasto texture in the nest creates organic richness and physical presence that reads well across all four media.
- The 4:3 landscape format makes the image easy to place above a bed, console, or sofa, and works well in grouped arrangements.
- The warm gold and lavender palette sits naturally against warm neutrals, blush, mauve, and rose-brown interiors.
Where It Works
- Bedrooms, reading corners, and quiet living spaces that benefit from warmth and gentleness
- Prayer rooms and study spaces where themes of calling, nurture, and spiritual formation matter
- Hallways, entryways, and guest rooms where a softer prophetic image is the right fit
- Interiors with warm neutrals, mauve, blush, or lavender palettes where the gold and violet tones will resonate
- Larger walls and architectural spaces at the 48×36 and 60×45 in sizes

Emergence, 40×30 in framed paper print — shown above a console in a bright entryway setting.

Print Options & Materials
- Paper for a classic fine art presentation behind glass.
- Canvas for painterly depth and a softer wall presence that honors the painting’s origins and its heavy impasto texture.
- Metal for luminous, saturated color and a bold contemporary statement — especially strong at larger sizes.
- Acrylic for depth, clarity, and a polished modern finish that intensifies the gold and lavender color field.
Bathroom Suitability
For humid bathrooms and spa-style spaces, Metal or Acrylic are the strongest choices. Framed paper works well in dry, ventilated bathrooms with glazing.

Notes from the Studio
I painted Emergence during a House of Prayer set at Catch the Fire Toronto. On the night it was painted, Joshua — a leader visiting from India — felt led to come over and look at what I was doing. What happened next I could not have planned or manufactured. He had an encounter with God that physically shook his whole body. Many people were there and witnessed it.
Years later, he wrote publicly about that night: “You sowed to a whole prophetic generation that emerged during this emergency period. Much was accomplished in the Spirit realm because of your obedience. It was truly a divine prophetic encounter as it unlocked destinies at that moment.”
What I find most striking about this painting is that I had no idea what that night would carry. I was simply responding to what was forming on the canvas. Emergence has become a reminder to me that obedience in the quiet moment — before anything is visible — is often exactly where God is working most.
