Summary
Lord of Life is a vertical open-edition fine art print by Anne Reid Artist, prepared from the 2017 original acrylic on canvas painting of the same name. Two small figures stand before the empty tomb as warm amber-gold and cool teal fill the upper field and vivid lime green and violet break across the lower canvas — the colors of resurrection life, royalty, and the triumph of Christ over death. It is a piece for rooms where resurrection faith and creative life belong on the same wall.
Artwork Statement
I painted Lord of Life in 2017. Two figures look toward the empty tomb. The green breaking out in the lower field represents life — the resurrection life of Jesus Christ. The purple and violet represent royalty. Together they speak the same declaration: He triumphed over the grave and gives everlasting life to all who will receive Him. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
This is the source of my life and my creativity. The painting is not simply an image about resurrection — it is a statement about origin. Everything I make comes from this: that He is alive, that death has been defeated, and that life in Him is the truest life there is.
The passage behind the painting is Acts 2:22–32 — Peter's Pentecost proclamation that David foresaw the resurrection of Christ, and that God raised Him up because it was not possible for Him to be held by death. The empty tomb is not a memory. It is a present reality, and this painting stands in front of it.
Color & Mood
- Warm amber-orange and honey-gold fill the upper right — radiant, risen, and full of warmth.
- Cool teal and aqua balance the upper left — the atmosphere of the garden on resurrection morning.
- Vivid lime green bursts across the lower field — life breaking through, unstoppable and joyful.
- Blue-violet and deep purple anchor the lower register — royalty, sovereignty, and the reign of Christ.
- The overall mood is triumphant, life-filled, and quietly reverent.
Design Notes
- Vertical 3:4 composition with a wide luminous upper field and a vivid lower zone of bursting color.
- The dual-temperature palette — warm orange meeting cool teal — creates natural visual depth and movement.
- The two small figures in the mid-ground anchor the scale; the landscape around them is vast and luminous.
- At larger sizes the atmospheric upper field reads with Turner-like luminosity; at smaller sizes the color relationships remain bold and clear.
- Strong in both framed paper and unframed metal presentations.
Where It Works
- Living rooms and dining rooms where warmth, luminosity, and spiritual depth are welcome.
- Studies, creative studios, and home offices where resurrection faith and creative life belong on the same wall.
- Prayer rooms, worship spaces, and church interiors seeking a bold, life-filled statement of resurrection.
- Entryways and hallways where the vertical format and atmospheric warmth make a strong first impression.
- Healthcare, counseling, and wellness environments where hope and life are meaningful themes.

Pairing Ideas
- Golgotha 3, print — the cross before the empty tomb; pairs the moment of sacrifice with the moment of resurrection in a single two-print theological statement.
- Third Day 3, print — a softer, dawn-like resurrection companion in pale blue and gold for collectors who want two resurrection works at different intensities.
- Altar 7, print — for a deeper theological pairing — altar and empty tomb, sacrifice and life, the full arc of redemption.
