Summary
On Earth as it is in Heaven 4 is a prophetic fine art print drawn from an original acrylic painting. Pale whites and soft blues open into a misty horizon where a faint city emerges and mirrors itself below, holding the quiet visual idea at the center of the Lord's Prayer: heaven touching earth, and earth reflecting heaven.
Artwork Statement
I painted this piece in the community studio in Oakville. It is one of my quieter works — a much softer palette than I usually reach for. My work tends to be bold and full of color, but with this painting I simply wanted something different. The palette is pale and atmospheric: whites, soft blues, gentle turquoise, hints of green, and small touches of darker line.
I began abstractly, as I usually do. What drew me first was the texture. I remember pulling paint across the surface with something like a wall scraper rather than a traditional palette knife — that motion created a soft, dragged quality, almost like clouds or mist moving across a pale sky. There are earlier layers underneath what is visible. The white was pulled over the surface, leaving traces of blue and green beneath.
As the painting developed, the marks near the center began to suggest a distant city or shoreline. The pale blue and white felt heavenly to me — like clouds, or a place seen through mist. Then the lower marks began to feel like a reflection of what was above. That mirroring is where the title came from. It was not a complicated revelation. It was more like the name adjusted itself to the colors and the composition, and to the phrase from the Lord's Prayer.
"Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven." — Matthew 6:10
Color & Mood
- Dominant tone: pale gray-white — spacious and atmospheric
- Focal color: soft aqua and turquoise at the horizon line
- Accents: faint green undertones; small touches of deeper line and mark
- Overall mood: still, restful, quietly radiant — spa-like in its peacefulness
Design Notes
- Horizontal 5:4 landscape composition — wide and open, with a centered horizon
- The mirroring structure creates a natural symmetry that reads well in long horizontal spaces
- Pale, cool palette integrates easily with white, cream, warm neutral, and natural wood interiors
- Light and airy — does not compete; it rests
- Works beautifully at large scale where the atmospheric quality can fully breathe

Notes from the Studio
The original sold before I recognized how well it would travel. Before it sold, I had framed it myself — I went out in my truck in the middle of winter and got wood from the woodshed. The wood was Canadian maple heart, and I learned to use the planer and other tools at the community center wood shop, taught by a young woman there. The finished frame was pale, warm, and natural — almost Scandinavian in feeling — and it suited the painting perfectly. The collector loved it.
She had also commissioned Henrietta's Pearl from me. Her husband is an architect, and together they had built a home filled with pale blonde wood and a clean, beautiful interior. The handmade maple frame looked as though it had been made for that house, even though I had no idea where the painting would go when I built it. She also collected Shelter, Ministry of Reconciliation, and several other pieces — many with matching handmade frames — and together with the commissioned Pearl piece, the colors and materials all worked beautifully. I first met her through a gathering where I had been invited to come, paint, and show my work, connected through Faith Marie Baczko of FMB Ministries. It was one of those collector relationships where a great deal of good fruit came from a single connection.
For me, this painting remains a quiet piece about reflection, alignment, and the beauty of heaven touching earth. It does not insist. It rests. And it is still full of presence.
