Summary
Surrounded 2 is a prophetic fine art print by Anne Reid Artist. A square crop from the original painting shows the full figure—arms extended wide, yellow shirt, vivid green above and deep cobalt blue below, the blue-violet arc completing behind her. This is the heart of the composition: the worshiper visible and open, standing inside the banner of God’s presence rather than outside it. Available in square sizes on paper, canvas, metal, and acrylic.
Surrounded began the way many of my paintings begin: abstractly. I chose the colors, began moving paint around the surface, and worked until I could begin to see what the painting was becoming. The first image I saw was a figure with arms lifted in what looked like victory, and around him a sweeping orange movement that read to me as a banner—almost like a fire banner—surrounding him. That image arrived through the process rather than being planned. I did not set out to paint a banner worshiper. I recognized what was already there.
Because I have been involved in flagging and banner worship for decades—conferences, worship gatherings, prayer meetings, and ministry contexts where banners and flags are part of the language of praise—this image connects directly to my own experience. For people who understand that world, the image is immediately recognizable: the movement of the body, the lifted arms, the sweep of the banner, and the knowledge that worship itself is a way of contending.
There are so many ways people are fighting their battles right now—and most of them are wrong. This painting is about the right way. The central truth behind Surrounded comes from a worship song built around two declarations: “This is how I fight my battles,” and “It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You.” In a decade of war, pressure, opposition, and collective anxiety, that is a radical claim. It says that praise and worship are not retreat. They are warfare. It says that what looks like encirclement by the enemy is actually encirclement by God. The painting is an illustration of this very thing.
Surrounded 2 is a square crop showing the full figure—head to ankle, arms extended wide, held within the encircling arc. Of the three editions, this is the one that shows the worshiper complete and open: declared, covered, and standing inside the movement of the banner.
Surrounded is about worship as warfare. It is about being encircled by God when circumstances suggest otherwise. It is about the way praise, surrender, movement, color, and declaration become part of the battle. The figure stands inside the movement of the banner, not outside it. The worshiper is not alone. The worshiper is surrounded—by You (Psalm 125:2, NIV).
Variation & Edition Notes
The original painting, Surrounded, is a 16×20 in portrait canvas. The first prophetic image that appeared in the work showed a figure with lifted arms encircled by a sweeping orange-red arc. As work continued, the painting was repainted: the figure developed further, the palette shifted, and the composition was refined. The reworked painting is the source for all three Surrounded print editions. The original canvas remains in progress.
Surrounded 2 is a square crop showing the full figure within the green-and-blue field. The crop was made because the full standing figure—arms wide, body open, held within the arc—carries the complete visual statement of the work. This is the edition that shows the worshiper in her entirety: declared, covered, and inside the movement of the banner.
Color & Mood
- Upper field: vivid green—life, growth, movement
- Lower field: deep cobalt blue—depth, presence, grounding
- Arc: blue-violet halo sweep—covering, encirclement, divine presence
- Figure: yellow shirt, red arms and lower body—warmth, glory, full-body surrender
- Accent: white light streak along the extended left arm
- Mood: complete declaration, full surrender, worship as warfare, spiritual authority, open presence
Design Notes
- Square format (1:1 ratio)—the most complete of the three Surrounded crops; full figure visible head to ankle
- The split field—vivid green upper, cobalt blue lower—gives the square frame strong vertical energy
- Blue-violet arc completes behind the figure, creating a natural halo and focal encirclement
- High-contrast figure (yellow and red) reads boldly across both fields at any scale
- Pairs naturally with Surrounded 1 (landscape upper crop) and Surrounded 3 (spare graphic crop) as a three-print suite
Where It Works
- Prayer rooms, chapel interiors, and worship spaces where the full figure in banner worship is directly relevant
- Fitness rooms, studios, and active spaces—the physical energy and vivid palette suit motivating environments
- Home offices and leadership environments where a declaration of courage and protection anchors the wall
- Living rooms and bold contemporary interiors where high-contrast color and figural presence define the space
- Gallery-style installations—the square format works well in a grid alongside Surrounded 1 and 3

Pairing Ideas
- Jehovah Nissi, print — banner imagery from the same spiritual family; Jehovah Nissi means “The Lord is my Banner”—a direct companion to the declaration at the heart of the Surrounded series.
Print Options & Materials
- Paper for a classic fine art presentation behind glass.
- Canvas for painterly depth and a wall presence that honors the painting’s textural origins.
- Metal for maximum luminosity and impact—the vivid green field and violet arc intensify on metal; recommended for larger sizes and active environments.
- Acrylic for depth, clarity, and a polished modern finish that amplifies the color field.

Quality & Care
Fine art prints are produced using archival pigment inks on premium substrates. Paper and canvas prints should be kept out of direct sunlight and high-humidity environments; framing behind UV-protective glass extends longevity. Metal and acrylic prints require no framing and can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth. All prints are inspected for color accuracy and finish quality before shipment.
Shipping & Fulfillment
Orders are produced to order and shipped by my professional print lab partner in the United States. Production and transit times vary by size and finish; tracking is provided when your artwork ships. International orders may be subject to local duties, taxes, or import fees at delivery.
Integrity Notes
Surrounded 2 is a detail-crop edition (2026) reproduced from the reworked state of the original acrylic painting, Surrounded (16×20 in; currently in progress). The original painting was reworked from an earlier state; the reworked painting is the sole source for this print. The print presents a square crop showing the full figure within the green-and-blue field and arc. Standard photographic and editorial preparation was applied for print readability. No AI tools were used in the creation of the artwork or the preparation of the print edition.

Notes from the Studio
Open Edition Fine Art Print — Detail-Crop Edition, from the original painting (Surrounded, acrylic on canvas). The crops that became Surrounded 1, 2, and 3 were made because they isolate the strongest parts of the composition—the face, the extended arms, the circular arc, and the sense of the banner surrounding the worshiper. The original painting continues to be reworked and is not yet complete.
