Summary
Surrounded 3 is a prophetic fine art print by Anne Reid Artist. The most pared-back of the three Surrounded editions: a tight square crop that isolates the extended arm, the upturned face, and the sweep of green and blue-violet arc against an open white ground. Spare, graphic, and full of directed energy—a declaration reduced to its most essential gesture. Available in square sizes on paper, canvas, metal, and acrylic.
Surrounded began the way many of my paintings begin: abstractly. I chose the colors, began moving paint around the surface, and worked until I could begin to see what the painting was becoming. The first image I saw was a figure with arms lifted in what looked like victory, and around him a sweeping orange movement that read to me as a banner—almost like a fire banner—surrounding him. That image arrived through the process rather than being planned. I did not set out to paint a banner worshiper. I recognized what was already there.
Because I have been involved in flagging and banner worship for decades—conferences, worship gatherings, prayer meetings, and ministry contexts where banners and flags are part of the language of praise—this image connects directly to my own experience. For people who understand that world, the image is immediately recognizable: the movement of the body, the lifted arms, the sweep of the banner, and the knowledge that worship itself is a way of contending.
There are so many ways people are fighting their battles right now—and most of them are wrong. This painting is about the right way. The central truth behind Surrounded comes from a worship song built around two declarations: “This is how I fight my battles,” and “It may look like I’m surrounded, but I’m surrounded by You.” In a decade of war, pressure, opposition, and collective anxiety, that is a radical claim. It says that praise and worship are not retreat. They are warfare. It says that what looks like encirclement by the enemy is actually encirclement by God. The painting is an illustration of this very thing.
Surrounded 3 is a spare square crop in which the background is largely removed, isolating the extended arm, the upturned face, and the sweep of the arc against an open ground. It is the declaration reduced to its most essential gesture—everything stripped back except the reach and the encirclement.
Surrounded is about worship as warfare. It is about being encircled by God when circumstances suggest otherwise. It is about the way praise, surrender, movement, color, and declaration become part of the battle. The figure stands inside the movement of the banner, not outside it. The worshiper is not alone. The worshiper is surrounded—by You (Psalm 125:2, NIV).
Color & Mood
- Ground: open white—spare, graphic, uncluttered
- Green diagonal sweep—vivid, cutting across the left and lower frame
- Arc: blue-violet partial sweep—covering, presence, encirclement
- Figure: red-orange extended arm, yellow upper shirt—warmth, declaration, reach
- Mood: directed energy, pure gesture, declaration stripped back, graphic boldness, forward momentum
Design Notes
- Square format (1:1 ratio) with open white ground—the most graphic and design-forward of the three Surrounded crops
- The diagonal green sweep and the extended red arm create strong directional tension across the frame
- White ground distinguishes this edition clearly from Surrounded 1 and 2; effective on light-colored walls where the color contrasts sharply
- Reads powerfully at small scale (12×12 in) as a bold accent; equally strong as a large statement piece
- Works in a grid installation alongside Surrounded 1 and 2; the white ground creates natural visual spacing in a close hang
Where It Works
- Prayer rooms, chapel interiors, and worship spaces—the pared-back composition focuses attention on the gesture of surrender and declaration
- Fitness rooms, studios, and active spaces—the directed energy and bold graphic quality suit motivating environments
- Home offices, creative studios, and personal sanctuaries where a bold, spare declaration anchors the wall
- Gallery-style installations—pairs with Surrounded 1 and 2 as a three-part suite; the white ground works well in a grid or linear hang
- Contemporary residential and commercial interiors where graphic impact and color contrast are the priority

Pairing Ideas
- Jehovah Nissi, print — banner imagery from the same spiritual family; Jehovah Nissi means “The Lord is my Banner”—a direct companion to the declaration at the heart of the Surrounded series.

Quality & Care
Fine art prints are produced using archival pigment inks on premium substrates. Paper and canvas prints should be kept out of direct sunlight and high-humidity environments; framing behind UV-protective glass extends longevity. Metal and acrylic prints require no framing and can be wiped clean with a soft, dry cloth. All prints are inspected for color accuracy and finish quality before shipment.
Shipping & Fulfillment
Orders are produced to order and shipped by my professional print lab partner in the United States. Production and transit times vary by size and finish; tracking is provided when your artwork ships. International orders may be subject to local duties, taxes, or import fees at delivery.
Integrity Notes
Surrounded 3 is a detail-crop edition (2026) reproduced from the reworked state of the original acrylic painting, Surrounded (16×20 in; currently in progress). The original painting was reworked from an earlier state; the reworked painting is the sole source for this print. The print presents a tight upper crop with the background largely removed, concentrating on the extended arm, face, and arc. Standard photographic and editorial preparation was applied for print readability. No AI tools were used in the creation of the artwork or the preparation of the print edition.

Notes from the Studio
Open Edition Fine Art Print — Detail-Crop Edition, from the original painting (Surrounded, acrylic on canvas). The crops that became Surrounded 1, 2, and 3 were made because they isolate the strongest parts of the composition—the face, the raised arm, the circular arc, and the sense of the banner surrounding the worshiper. The original painting continues to be reworked and is not yet complete.
