Artwork Statement

The Blue Men series grew out of my connection with the Torus Power team and the wider audiophile world — figures that reflect not only the atmosphere of listening spaces, but the personalities who help shape them.

Blue Man 2 was created in honor of Ross Whitney — known to many as “Rossie” — bassist, sound engineer, El Mocambo rock star, and longtime Technical Sales Manager at Torus Power Inc. For many customers he was a familiar voice, a trusted guide, and part of the lived culture of serious audio.

I wanted this figure to hold a sense of human presence inside a technological world — the kind of presence that makes a room feel personal rather than merely engineered. The original work began as acrylic on paper, later digitally refined to develop the figure’s form and luminous blue atmosphere before translation to metal.

For dedicated listening rooms: position on the front wall between or behind the speakers, or centered on the back wall behind the listening position. Avoid side walls at ear height — these are the first reflection points where any hard surface can affect the soundstage.
